Job Summary
Create design documents, drawings, and wiring diagrams for substation projects, including generating bills of materials and applying field mark-ups. Perform engineering calculations such as relay burden, load flow, short circuit studies, ground grid design, and transformer sizing under direct supervision. Apply industry standards including NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, and ANSI while using corporate document management systems. Gain hands-on experience by spending time at job sites for substation construction and design training. Take personal responsibility for work quality, proactively bring project problems to attention, and travel to project locations as required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
- Power focus
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate
- Ability to obtain EIT certificate within one year of date of hire
- Occasional travel to other offices or meeting locations
- Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds
- Ability to stand and walk intermittently throughout the workday
- Ability to sit for extended periods during computer-based work
- Knowledge of common word processing, spreadsheet, and e-mail software
- Demonstrated communication skills, both verbally and written
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work in a team environment
- Basic knowledge of three phase power systems
- Knowledge of electrical AC/DC fundamentals
- Candidates must be at least 18 years of age
- Legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without current or future visa sponsorship
Desired Qualifications
- Prior internship and/or related work experience in the power field
