Job Summary
Create design documents, drawings, and wiring diagrams for substation projects under direct supervision. Perform engineering calculations including relay burden, load flow, short circuit, ground grid design, relay coordination, and transformer sizing. Apply industry standards such as NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, and ANSI while learning engineering application software. Spend time at job sites to gain hands-on knowledge of substation construction and design. Take personal responsibility for work quality and bring potential project problems to the responsible party. Occasional travel to project sites and offices is required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
- Power focus
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate
- Ability to obtain EIT certificate within one year of date of hire
- Prior internship and/or related work experience in the power field
- Knowledge of common word processing, spreadsheet, and e-mail software
- Demonstrated communication skills, both verbally and written
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work in a team environment
- Basic knowledge of three phase power systems
- Knowledge of electrical AC/DC fundamentals
- Occasional travel to other offices or meeting locations
- Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds
- Ability to stand and walk intermittently throughout the workday
- Ability to sit for extended periods during computer-based work
- Candidates must be at least 18 years of age
- Legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without current or future visa sponsorship
