Job Summary
Work with a project team to create or modify civil and structural design documents and drawings under direct supervision. Perform engineering support tasks such as wind load calculations and structural analysis with minimal supervision. Learn and apply engineering standards including NESC, IEEE, ANSI, AISC, and ACI while mastering the document management system and corporate practices. Spend time at job sites to gain hands-on knowledge in substation construction and design, taking personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of your work. Bring potential project-related problems and solutions to the attention of the responsible party. Travel out of town for short periods as required by projects. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, EIT certificate or ability to obtain within one year, and skills in steel and concrete design.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
- Power focus
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate
- Ability to obtain EIT certificate within one year of date of hire
- Knowledge of steel and concrete design
- Basic knowledge of structural analysis
- Knowledge of common word processing, spreadsheet, and e-mail software
- Working in a team environment
- Communicating effectively with co-workers, vendors, clients, etc.
- Ability to sit for extended periods during computer-based work
- Ability to stand and walk intermittently throughout the workday
- Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds
- Occasional travel to other offices or meeting locations
- Candidates must be at least 18 years of age
- Legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without current or future visa sponsorship
