Job Summary
Graduate Assistant for Wrestling at Newman University assists in day-to-day team operations, helps plan and run team training sessions with the head coach, aids with scouting reports, contributes to recruiting and retention efforts, coordinates travel planning and scheduling, mentors or tutors student-athletes, and ensures NCAA compliance through training (FERPA and Title IX). The role involves working nights, weekends, and holidays, with a 12-month appointment and a monthly stipend. Requires a Bachelor’s degree and active enrollment in a Master’s degree program; prior collegiate athletics experience and strong organizational/computer skills are expected. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; housing and some benefits are described, including tuition waivers eligibility and meal plan option.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of Bachelor’s Degree
- Must be accepted and enrolled full time (at least six (6) credit hours per semester) in a Master’s degree program (M.S.E. Organizational Leadership preferred) during the academic year (fall and spring semester)
- Previous experience in a college athletic setting
- Genuine interest in and willingness to work with students; understanding of student attitudes, concerns and problems
- Ability to exercise basic human relations skills in directing and motivating staff, and dealing with varied constituencies on and off campus
- Strong organizational and computer skills
- AED and/or CPR training preferred
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
