Job Summary
Conduct ensembles, teach methods courses, and deliver applied lessons within the Division of Music as needed. Play in different ensembles to support program activities. Manage a 12-month appointment designed for completion of a one-year master's degree in jazz studies while demonstrating organization, effective time management, and self-direction. Submit a letter of intent, curriculum vitae, and three professional references. Provide a recording of two contrasting standard jazz tunes with head and improvisation, specific jazz scales and modes, and a jazz tune of your choice with head and improvisation. Sign a contract outlining the duration, stipend, hours, and job duties.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Music Degree
- at least 18 credit hours in the area of performant, education, or jazz
- Competency on a least one of the instruments listed above
- completed the requirements for the baccalaureate degree prior to enrolling in the first graduate class
- gained admission to the Graduate School at the University of Arkansas at Monticello or elsewhere
- provide a recording of two contrasting standard jazz tunes with head and improvisation
- specific jazz scales and modes as determined by the program director
- a jazz tune of the applicant's choice with head and improvisation
- submit a letter of intent
- submit a curriculum vitae
- provide name and contact information for 3 professional references
- sign a contract that outlines the duration of the graduate assistantship, the stipend amount, hours associated with the assistantship, and a description of job duties
