Job Summary
Finish Grader Operator needed for project in Ponoka; responsibilities include finishing sub-grade and stabilizing gravel and other surfaces within sub-centimeter tolerances in preparation for asphalt, reading grade plans, communicating with grade checker, performing routine inspections and preventive maintenance on equipment, assisting foremen and crew with site activities, and working outdoors in varying weather with overtime and weekend hours. Must have 3+ years in heavy civil earthworks, valid driver’s license, CSTS/SCOT and WHMIS 2015, strong safety and ethics adherence, and proficiency in English; high school diploma or equivalent required. Hourly rate varies by experience; health benefits, pension, RRSP matching, vacation pay, and related safety requirements apply.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years' experience in heavy civil earthworks
- Proven experience with technical specifications, grade plans and building roads
- Valid driver's license
- Driver's abstract (must be obtained within 30 days prior to start)
- CSTS 2020 or SCOT
- WHMIS 2015
- English language skills
- Reliability and teamwork
- Ethics and integrity
- Ability to communicate with grade checker and act on information
- Experience with equipment maintenance/repairs
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work outside in varying weather
- Use of PPE required
- Drug and alcohol policy compliance
- Sunscreen, long sleeves, headgear when outdoors
- Leadership for Safety Excellence (LSE) proficiency (certified)
- Transportation reliable
