Job Summary
Grade Foreman responsible for supervising crews (minimum two direct employees plus subcontractors), assigning daily tasks, monitoring progress, certifying hours for payroll, directing training and performance decisions, enforcing safety and quality standards, overseeing equipment usage, assisting in progress and safety reports, tracking time/materials, and coordinating with the Superintendent to meet project schedules and budgets. Requires experience with heavy equipment, dirt/grade work, GPS/DS tools for grading, ability to read drawings/specifications, DOT safety knowledge, outdoor work, and strong communication skills. Required Qualifications
- Must pass drug screen
- A valid driver’s license
- Strongly prefer High School Diploma
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a construction supervisory role
- Five plus years previous heavy civil construction experience
- Experience with grade checking to meet project plans and specifications utilizing GPS, rotating laser, stakes and cut sheets
- Fundamental knowledge of GPS equipment as it applies to grading
- Thorough knowledge and working experience of DOT standards and regulations
- Able to communicate effectively with workers and subcontractors
- Able to work overtime and be flexible with hours (day/night)
- Must be able to communicate with others to convey information effectively
- Must be accustomed to working outdoors with exposure to all weather conditions
- Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms, legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials
- Foremen may be required to operate equipment or perform ground work as required to meet productivity goals
- Must demonstrate attention to details
- Must be knowledgeable of safety procedures and practices
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
