Job Summary
The Junior High French Immersion Teacher at Bluenose Academy supports student learning and achievement with a focus on French Immersion for Math (Grade 9, 24%), Science (Grade 9, 14%), Social Studies (Grade 9, 14%), and LST (French Immersion 6-9, 48%). The role emphasizes high-quality teaching aligned to Nova Scotia Teaching Standards, meeting diverse learner needs, and maintaining high expectations. Responsibilities include using Assessment for and of Learning to guide instruction, creating a safe and positive learning environment, and ongoing professional learning while modeling professionalism. Security checks are required (Child Abuse Register Check and Criminal Record/Vulnerable Sector Checks). The position is 100% permanent and located at Bluenose Academy, Lunenburg, NS, effective August 1, 2026, with application deadline June 15, 2026.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Nova Scotia Teacher Certification
- Bachelor of Education - Secondary
- OPI Level of Superior
- Math Endorsement
- Experience teaching grades 6-9
- Professional development in French Immersion: Math, Science and Social Studies
