Job Summary
Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill district curriculum requirements while accommodating individual student differences. Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies, materials, and technology to support diverse learning styles. Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing to guide instruction. Manage student behavior according to the Student Code of Conduct and create a classroom environment conducive to learning. Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for Individual Education Plans. Establish professional relationships with parents, students, colleagues, and community members. Compile and maintain all required reports, records, and documents. Participate in staff development activities, faculty meetings, and staff committees as required. Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or related training and work experience for certification waivers
- Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
- Knowledge of core academic subject assigned
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Student teaching, approved internship, or related work experience
- Current automated external defibrillator (AED) and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate
- Be a positive role model for students
- Maintain emotional control under stress
