Job Summary
Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with district curriculum and Texas Education Agency guidelines, adapting instruction for diverse student needs and learning styles. Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing to guide instructional activities. Manage classroom behavior according to the Student Code of Conduct while creating an environment conducive to intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula per Individual Education Plans and direct the work of assigned instructional aides. Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities and sponsor approved outside programs. Establish open communication channels with parents, students, colleagues, and community members. Participate in staff development, faculty meetings, and required committees while complying with all state, district, and school regulations. Maintain professional relationships and serve as a positive role model supporting the school district's mission.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or related training and work experience for certification waivers
- Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
- Knowledge of core academic subject assigned
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Student teaching, approved internship, or related work experience
- Current automated external defibrillator (AED) and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate
