Job Summary
Graduate Pharmacy Intern role within CVS Health's Retail locations, supporting pharmacy teams as part of a comprehensive 120-day training roadmap following pharmacy school education; responsibilities include assisting with safe and accurate prescription fulfillment, SOP adherence, patient counseling and empathy, immunizations where permissible, inventory and cycle counts, and expanding clinical/technical knowledge under supervision while maintaining regulatory compliance; the program aims to prepare for a Pharmacist role through hands-on experience, leadership exposure, and continuing professional development.
Required Qualifications
- PharmD graduate of a U.S. accredited program prior to beginning the Post-Graduate Training Program at CVS Health
- Ability to obtain required pharmacist licensure within the required timeframe, per state guidelines
- Failure to obtain required Pharmacist licensure within 120 days of graduation will result in separation of employment
- Must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern and/or technician licensure as required
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
- Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time
- Ability to pivot quickly from one task to another to meet patient and business needs
- Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy, ensuring patient safety
- Customer Service and Team Orientation: actively look for ways to help people and do so in a friendly manner
- Communication Skills: verbal and written communication with patients and colleagues
- Use of active listening to understand points being made
- Mathematical Reasoning: solving problems related to prescriptions, dosage, and inventory
- Problem Resolution: handling challenging patient or colleague interactions
- Physical Demands and mobility requirements for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs occasionally, and up to 10-20 lbs frequently
- Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication
- Ability to work across locations in the market as needed
- Compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and ethical principles
- Preferred Qualifications: 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
- Ability to become immunization certified when state regulations are met
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Ability to travel across stores in the market to meet business needs
