Job Summary

Graduate Pharmacy Intern at CVS Health; learn and grow through a 120-day training roadmap while supporting pharmacy teams to ensure safe, accurate prescription fulfillment, patient counseling, immunizations where permissible, and inventory management. You’ll operate within SOPs, provide empathetic patient service across in-store pharmacy operations (production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off), assist with telephonic prescriptions, document patient information, and collaborate with pharmacists and technicians to uphold patient safety, quality assurance, and compliant practice. As readiness increases, you’ll support management and operations, potentially traveling to stores across the market to meet business needs, and may pursue licensure-immunizer responsibilities in line with state requirements. Preferred candidates have 1+ years of related experience, ability to obtain immunization certification, and proficiency with Microsoft Office; flexible to work nights and weekends and to support immunizations and vaccines as allowed by state regulations.

Required Qualifications

  • PharmD graduate of a U.S. accredited program prior to beginning the Post-Graduate Training Program at CVS Health
  • Ability to obtain required pharmacist licensure within the required timeframe, per state guidelines
  • Must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern and/or technician licensure as required
  • Essential Functions: Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
  • Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
  • Attention and Focus: Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time
  • Ability to pivot quickly from one task to another to meet patient and business needs
  • Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy, ensuring patient safety
  • Customer Service and Team Orientation: Actively look for ways to help people, and do so in a friendly manner
  • Notice and understand patients’ reactions, and respond appropriately
  • Communication Skills: Use and understand verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues
  • Mathematical Reasoning: Ability to use math to solve a problem
  • Problem Resolution: Identifying challenging patient or colleague interactions and choosing the best course of action
  • Physical Demands: Be mobile and remain upright for extended periods of time
  • Close visual acuity to perform activities such as: transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, reading, visual inspection involving small parts
  • Occasional lifting etc. up to 20 lbs
  • Preferred Qualifications: 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
  • Ability to become immunization certified
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
