Job Summary
Graduate Pharmacy Intern at CVS Health, immersed in a comprehensive training program within 120 days of graduation to prepare for a Pharmacist role. You will support pharmacy teams across store operations, learn SOPs, contribute to patient safety and quality assurance (DUR), and progressively assume greater accountability for pharmacy management and operations. Responsibilities include assisting with prescription fulfillment, counseling and empathetic patient interactions, enabling immunizations where allowable, taking telephonic prescriptions when permitted, maintaining inventory and cycle counts, and supporting additional patient health services as trained. The role emphasizes learning through hands-on practice, collaboration with the pharmacy team, adherence to regulatory standards, and participation in a development roadmap under supervision of a licensed pharmacist and district leadership. Essential functions cover attendance, concentration, multitasking, accuracy in labeling, customer service, communication, mathematical reasoning, problem resolution, physical endurance, and the ability to operate within a fast-paced retail pharmacy environment. Preferred qualifications include 1+ years of related experience and immunization certification readiness, with flexibility to work across stores in the market and proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
Required Qualifications
- PharmD graduate of a U.S. accredited program prior to beginning the Post-Graduate Training Program at CVS Health
- Ability to obtain required pharmacist licensure within the required timeframe, per state guidelines
- Must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern and/or technician licensure as required
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
- Attention and Focus: Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time
- Ability to pivot quickly from one task to another to meet patient and business needs
- Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy, ensuring patient safety
- Customer Service and Team Orientation: Actively look for ways to help people, and do so in a friendly manner
- Notice and understand patients’ reactions, and respond appropriately
- Communication Skills: Use and understand verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues
- Utilize active listening by giving full attention to what others are saying
- Mathematical Reasoning: Ability to use math to solve a problem
- Problem Resolution: Identifying challenging patient or colleague interactions
- Physical Demands: Be mobile and remain upright for extended periods of time
- Close visual acuity to perform activities such as: transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, reading, visual inspection involving small parts
- Occasional lift of up to 20 lbs and/or exert up to 20 lbs of force
- Preferred Qualifications: 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
- Ability to become immunization certified
- Ability to work in home store, and across the market in other locations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
