GR - Grinder

Conduct finish, straighten, taper, and contour grinding operations on castings using hand-held grinders, backstand grinders, swing grinders, and belt sanders. Remove excess metal, including flash and sprues, and execute cosmetic defect repair through peening and precision grinding to achieve specified tolerances. Operate tumbler blasting equipment to clean casting surfaces, adjusting air pressure and media flow for optimal results while loading and unloading parts with hoists and cranes. Perform visual inspections for cracks and porosity, mark defective areas, and apply date stamps for quality compliance. Maintain grinding and blasting equipment through routine checks, filter cleaning, and wheel replacements while adhering to strict safety procedures and PPE requirements. Complete daily facility checklists and manage dust collection systems to ensure environmental standards. Work 8–10 hour shifts in a high-temperature environment involving heavy lifting up to 50 lbs.
