Job Summary
Teach Grade 5 elementary students with special needs in Fall River Public Schools, delivering instruction and support services per students' IEPs and 504 Plans; collaborate with Evaluation Team Chairperson, School Psychologist, and other staff to assess and support students; participate in regular education/special education planning, chair perfunctory Review and Annual Review Meetings, administer educational assessments for Annual Reviews and Re-evaluations, assist in developing and implementing educational plans, maintain required records, and communicate with parents; promote maximum integration of students with special needs, collaborate with other teachers on cases requiring joint participation, and integrate information literacy, technology, and 21st Century Skills into the MA Curriculum Frameworks or Common Core Standards; requires a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Special Education and an appropriate Massachusetts K-12 teaching license; preferred candidates have substantial experience in regular and/or special education settings; salary in accordance with Fall River Educators' Association contract.
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Special Education from an accredited college or university
- Appropriate Massachusetts K-12 teaching license
- Experience in regular and/or special education settings
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity and closing the achievement gap
- Mastery of pedagogical and subject matter skills
- Experience in designing and implementing standards-based instruction
- Knowledge of integrating information literacy, technology and 21st Century Skills into MA Curriculum Frameworks or Common Core Standards
