Job Summary
GIS/GPS Technician role combining field data collection and office-based GIS analysis. Key responsibilities include collecting high-accuracy GPS data in the field with industry-standard equipment, verifying asset locations and field conditions, processing GPS data into enterprise GIS databases, creating professional maps using ArcGIS Pro, managing data workflows in Excel/Access, digitizing features from plans and survey documents, and supporting senior analysts with spatial analysis tasks. The position emphasizes hands-on field work, data quality, and collaboration with field crews, engineers, and clients, with opportunities for growth and professional development in geospatial technologies.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree (or equivalent coursework) in Geography, GIS, Geomatics, Environmental Science, or related field—OR 1-2 years of hands-on GIS experience (internships count).
- Working knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS software (ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, or ArcGIS Online).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and database software for data management.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regularly to field sites.
