Job Summary
Interview clients and assist with completing applications for direct service assistance, including welfare, public assistance, day care, and employment support. Finalize application processes, interpret program policies, and develop self-sufficiency plans by coordinating with departments and outside agencies for housing, transportation, and training needs. Maintain client files, prepare written reports, and complete home visits where applicants are home-bound. Assist in developing program policies and procedures while ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and Tribal laws.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or Human Services related field
- Knowledge of interviewing techniques
- Knowledge of community resources
- Ability to develop, monitor and modify applicant service goals
- Knowledge of human behavior and behavioral sciences including human growth and development, dynamics of interpersonal relationships and family dynamics
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Knowledge of and ability to use word processing and spreadsheet and database software
- Excellent public relation/customer service skills
- Ability to exhibit a friendly and positive attitude
- Ability to work under pressure and handle difficult situations
- Must maintain a good moral character standing
- Must comply with the Sault Tribe's Drug-Free Workplace Policy which may include random drug tests
- Must be able to lift a maximum of 10 pounds
- Knowledge of Federal, State and Tribal laws, rules and regulations related to mandatory reporting
Desired Qualifications
- One year of experience working in Social Services field or related program
