Job Summary
Manager leading a governmental accounting team providing services to city, county, and special district clients. Responsibilities include developing multi-year strategic financial plans and forecasts, presenting financial results to councils, boards, and management, ensuring year-round audit readiness, automating budget/forecasting/analysis with Excel-based modeling, leading a team delivering strategic financial services, implementing software solutions, and managing priorities to deliver high-quality projects. Ideal candidate possesses a bachelor’s in accounting/finance, 5+ years in accounting, experience in local government/utility governmental accounting, proficiency in software implementations and financial planning, and strong financial modeling and MS-Excel skills; ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with flexible hybrid work arrangements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- 5+ years experience working in accounting
- Experience in the local government/utility industry and/or governmental accounting
- Skilled in software implementations, long-term financial planning, budgeting, cost management, and/or utility rate studies
- Experience in project and change management
- Proficient in advanced MS-Excel functions (e.g. VLOOKUP, H-LOOKUP, SUMIFS, conditional statements (IF, MAX, MIN), pivot tables, graphs and charts)
- Strong quantitative analysis and financial modeling skills, with a focus on improvement and automation
- Desire to work in a fast-paced environment
- Collaborative spirit and adaptability to change
