Job Summary

Government Relations Specialist drives the organization’s government relations program by planning and implementing the annual engagement plan, coordinating policy responses, and aligning cross-department efforts. Responsibilities include internal communications related to Government Relations updates, monitoring regulatory and policy developments, drafting position papers and policy briefs, coordinating with internal experts and external partners, preparing presentation materials for executive briefings and ministerial meetings, and reporting to leadership and the Board. Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and 5-7 years of government relations/public affairs experience, plus strong analytical, writing, and relationship-management skills. The role supports a hybrid work arrangement in Burnaby, BC.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in political science, public policy, law, or related field
  • 5-7 years of experience in government relations, public affairs, or similar role
  • Experience working with provincial government legislative, regulatory and policy processes
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting legislative and regulatory documents, and preparing policy papers and briefing notes
  • Project management experience
  • Experience managing relationships with government officials and bodies on behalf of an organization
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
