Government Relations Lead - Sweden

Job Summary
Hitachi Energy Sweden seeks a Government Relations Lead to shape and drive the company’s public affairs and policy advocacy in Sweden. You will lead the government relations strategy, represent the company to government bodies and industry associations, monitor policy developments, and provide actionable insights to leadership on risks and opportunities in areas including grid expansion, electrification, and export policies. You will prepare executive briefings, policy papers, and messaging for senior leadership; build and maintain relationships with policymakers, industry groups, and strategic partners; and collaborate across Communications, Sustainability, Business Units, and Corporate Functions to ensure a cohesive public affairs approach. Fluent Swedish and English are required, with 8+ years in government/public affairs and a strong understanding of Sweden’s energy policy landscape. This role reports to the Head of Communications and Government Relations for the Nordics and involves cross-functional collaboration across Europe and beyond.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Political Science, Public Affairs, Law, Energy Policy, Economics, or a related field
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience within government, public affairs, regulatory affairs, or related field—preferably in energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, or technology sectors
- Strong understanding of the Swedish policymaking landscape, with experience engaging with ministries, authorities, parliament, and industry bodies
- Solid knowledge of Sweden’s energy system, electrification agenda, grid challenges, and broader industrial competitiveness topics
- Experience or exposure to EU legislative processes, trade policy, export promotion, or export finance is a strong advantage
- Proven skills in policy analysis, stakeholder management, and strategic advocacy
- Excellent communication skills; fluent in Swedish and English
- Experience working in international and matrix organizations is considered an advantage
