Government Director of Business Development

Job Summary
Directs strategy and pipeline development to win US Government contracts in IT, cyber, and related mission-support services. Manages full opportunity lifecycle, develops customer-focused relationships across government and industry partners, leads proposal activities, and coaches delivery leads. Builds and briefs bid/no bid recommendations, develops account strategy, and leverages client relationships to position the organization as a trusted partner for government customers. Requires a strong track record in government-sector business development, knowledge of federal acquisition regulations, and ability to navigate cross-market opportunities including IT, software/data engineering, AI/ML data science, systems development/support, and cybersecurity.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 10+ years of business development and/or capture experience with demonstrated success developing a qualified new business pipeline and winning new business
- Strong track record of business development success with the US Government customer
- Operational experience across diverse verticals and understanding of IT and cyber mission areas and mission support services
- Knowledge of US Government customers and understanding of commands, mission areas and spaces
- Knowledge of federal acquisition regulations, policies, and contract vehicles strongly preferred
- Experience with 8a business, SWaM business, direct awards, sole source awards, and full and open pursuits a significant plus
- Current secret or higher clearance is a plus, but not required (can sponsor for a Top Secret)
- Ability to identify key growth areas and develop new business aligned with the company’s growth strategy
- Knowledge of government contracting and current acquisition trends and customer buying behaviors
- Knowledge of competitors and ability to model competitor behavior in the market
- Strong contract management, negotiation, and influencing skills
- Ability to present and communicate effectively at senior levels
- Problem solving and decision making
- Ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to travel up to 20 percent of the time or as business dictates
