Government Business Development Manager

Job Summary

Drive the entire sales process, including prospecting, lead management, proposal development, contract negotiations, RFP responses, and post-close implementation. Develop and execute strategic business development plans targeting state, local, and federal government agencies to achieve revenue growth and market share. Build consultative relationships with government clients, industry partners, and stakeholders to foster long-term partnerships. Stay current on industry trends, competitive landscapes, and emerging technologies to identify innovative opportunities. Continuously assess sales cycle activity, pipeline development, and goal tracking through the CRM tool while collaborating with internal teams to deliver seamless transitions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Sales or related field of study
  • Associate's degree in Business, Marketing, Sales or related field of study
  • High School diploma
  • Current driver's license
  • Previous consultative sales experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years of outside sales experience
  • Ability to thrive in collaborating with operations partners and building relationships
  • Skillful in consultative selling techniques
  • Skilled at brand development using professional networks, local and national associations, and social media tools
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, oral and written
  • Adept in creating and delivering compelling presentations
  • Proficient in web-based applications (e.g., Salesforce)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to travel throughout all areas of the territory, including some overnight travel

Desired Qualifications

  • Minimum of five (5) years of outside sales experience, preferably within the government vertical
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of outside sales experience, preferably within the government vertical
  • At least five (5) years within the government vertical
  • Outsourced solutions sales to state, local and federal government agencies
  • Knowledge of a contracting environment for government agencies including the procurement process, capture management, regulations and winning government competitive proposals
