Golf Starter / Ranger

Job Summary
Monitor speed of play, inspect registrations and sales receipts, and provide information on course rules to assure optimum use of the facility. Reconcile player accounts, troubleshoot customer service issues, and assist patrons with questions about the golf operation and Zion Park District. Perform light janitorial duties in the clubhouse and clean, stage, rotate, and fuel golf carts. Follow procedures for opening or closing the facility, maintain organized work areas, and adhere to safety policies. Work variable weekend and holiday shifts from 5am to 10pm, averaging 12-20 hours weekly.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduation or GED
- 1-3 years experience involving public contact in a service or sales capacity
- Basic knowledge of the game of golf
- Weekend and holiday shifts
- Shifts beginning as early as 5am
- Shifts concluding as late as 10pm
- Variable schedule
- Park District business hours
- Ability to work Monday through Sunday
- Arriving on time, in uniform and ready to work
- Effectively communicating, both verbally and in writing with supervisor, staff and public
- Understanding the importance of safety issues at the Park District
- Adhering to the safety manual and associated policies
- Recognizing and demonstrating sound safety measures
- Reasoning; processing information and making informed rational judgements
- Ability to comprehend written and verbal communications
- Observing participants
- Observing safety conditions
- Running maybe required to help a participant
- Lifting maybe required to move supplies and equipment
- Stooping maybe required to help a participant, clean facility or pick up supplies or equipment
- Climbing stairs in facilities
- Exposure to a wide range of weather and environmental conditions
