Job Summary
Oversee daily maintenance shop operations, including mechanics and technicians, to ensure fleet vehicles, trailers, and landscaping equipment remain safe, operational, and available for field support. Plan preventive maintenance programs, diagnose mechanical issues, and schedule work orders to minimize downtime while managing vendor relationships for parts and repairs. Enforce safety procedures, maintain accurate service documentation, and lead hiring, training, and performance management for maintenance staff. Collaborate with operations teams to align maintenance with production needs and manage repairs within established budgets.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 5+ years of experience as a mechanic
- 2 years in a supervisory or management role
- Strong knowledge of small engines, landscaping equipment, trailers, and light‐ to medium‐duty trucks
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage shop workflows efficiently
- Ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem‐solving skills
- Valid Driver's License
- Ability to pass an MVR check
Desired Qualifications
- technical certification or vocational training
- Diesel engine and heavy equipment experience
- Experience working in a commercial landscaping, construction, or field‐services company
- Familiarity with fleet management or maintenance tracking software
- Knowledge of DOT compliance, safety inspections, and preventive maintenance programs
- Budgeting and inventory management experience
- Ability to work collaboratively with operations and production leadership
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Valid CDL license
