Job Summary
Conduct on-scene crisis intervention, emergency screening, triage, and emotional support for children, youth, and families exposed to victimization and trauma in collaboration with law enforcement. Provide referrals for criminal justice assistance, trauma treatment, and access to government benefits and basic needs. Offer follow-up support and language services in English or Spanish. Travel to various police departments and community locations in Rhode Island, including sites requiring stairs or elevators. Lift up to 20 lbs. Maintain documentation using computer and internet software.
Required Qualifications
- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Possession of valid drivers' license
- Reliable transportation
- Proof of current automobile insurance
- Ability to utilize a computer
- Ability to utilize the internet
- Ability to utilize documentation software
- Demonstrated ability to work independently
- Ability to take initiative
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing
- Ability to lift up to 20lbs
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Criminal justice or related field preferred
- Experience working with law enforcement strongly preferred
- English/Spanish verbal and written bilingual skills highly preferred
- Knowledge of local community and RI victim/trauma focused services and supports highly preferred
- Prior experience working with trauma victims preferred
