Job Summary
GNC Navigation Engineer role focused on developing and maturing Corvid's flight-proven navigation filter with new sensor models and interfaces. Responsibilities include implementing navigation algorithms in Python and C++, developing sensor interfaces to the navigation filter, performing modeling, simulation, verification and validation activities, and supporting hardware testing and flight tests. The role also involves developing navigation subsystem requirements, lifecycle support for navigation products, exploring new sensors and methods to improve navigation components, and contributing to program reviews. Collaboration with GNC and Corvid groups on vehicle performance studies (e.g., Monte Carlo simulations) and potential business development for integrating navigation products is included. Proficiency in C++, Python, Linux, and Git, plus experience with sensor mechanics and seekers (RF/IR) and experience with Kalman filtering, are key. The candidate should be able to translate complex technical concepts into clear requirements and documentation and possess strong communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- US Citizenship
- ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance (Active Secret/Top Secret preferred)
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
- 10+ years of experience in navigation systems engineering, Kalman filtering methods
- Proficiency with C++, Python, Linux, and Git version control
- Solid understanding of navigation sensor mechanics and demonstrated experience integrating sensors with a Kalman filter
- Familiarity with RF and IR seekers, and vision-aided navigation concepts
- Experience with HIL/SIL testing and test bench instrumentation (preferred)
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
