GNC Autopilot Engineer

Job Summary
GNC Autopilot Engineer responsible for designing autopilot and guidance flight control systems for supersonic/hypersonic regimes. Owns autopilot subsystem requirements, develops plans and schedules for design, implementation, and verification; designs and analyzes MIMO autopilot and guidance laws for flight vehicle stabilization and control; mitigates risk to autopilot subsystems; collaborates with program management on requirements and schedules. Develops models in Python/C++, simulates in six degree of freedom model, and implements solutions in flight hardware. Tasks include developing/analysing autopilot algorithms, trajectory optimization and guidance methods, testing/maintaining algorithms, Monte Carlo simulations, coordinating with external organizations, supporting guided flight vehicle development, creating test plans and conducting ground/flight testing. Requires US citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain an active clearance; Bachelor's in related field (Master's preferred); 10+ years in autopilot/ Guidance laws; proficiency in C++, Python, Linux, Git; strong dynamics/IMU/flight computer knowledge; strong communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
- 10+ years of experience in developing autopilot and guidance laws
- Proficiency with C++, Python, Linux, and Git version control
- US Citizen and ability to obtain/maintain Secret Clearance (Active Secret/Top Secret preferred)
- Demonstrated implementations of inner-loop autopilot necessities (gain computation and margin analyses, gain scheduling, passive filters)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with high-fidelity modeling and simulation for aerospace systems
- Experience in developing autopilot and guidance algorithms for flight vehicle stabilization and control
- Ability to work with programs and schedules, including risk mitigation and testing
- Bachelor's or Master’s (Master’s preferred) in related engineering fields
- Experience with six degree of freedom simulation models
- Ability to coordinate with external organizations for GNC subsystem planning, testing, and collaboration
- Experience with Monte Carlo simulations and HPC environments
- Background in trajectory optimization and guidance methods
- Knowledge of flight code implementation and flight computer development
- Ability to develop test plans and conduct ground testing
- Experience with C++ and Python for simulations and real-time systems
