GMS Applications Engineer

Job Summary
Provides support for Market Management Systems (MMS) applications portfolio including SCED, Day-Ahead Market (DAM), Reliability Unit Commitment (RUC), Congestion Revenue Rights (CRR), QSE Training Simulator, and related MMS environments. Responsible for design, development, testing, validation and implementation of MMS application modifications and enhancements. Functions include on-call 24/7 market applications engineering support, troubleshooting MMS applications, coordinating test setups with QSEs/LSEs/REs, performing MMS model load testing, designing and testing MMS interfaces and Web & Client/Server application changes, supporting system site failovers and upgrades, disaster recovery drills, and mentoring/leading junior engineers when assigned. Senior-level duties include acting as Technical Lead and Subject Matter Expert for MMS portfolio projects, guiding projects from incubation to go-live, and collaborating with database administrators and infrastructure teams. Requires minimum 5 years of related experience and a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Science (Master's preferred) with on-site work in Taylor, TX (contingent worker). Familiarity with MMS tools, programming languages (FORTRAN, C, C++, Java, Perl, PL/SQL), data historians (OSIsoft PI), and related systems is expected.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field (Required)
- Master's Degree: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field (Preferred)
- Requires minimum 5 years job related work experience in excess of degree requirements
- Experience with Hitachi ABB or MMS vendors suite of applications (Preferred)
- Experience with Data Historians such as OSIsoft PI (Preferred)
- Experience with programming languages such as FORTRAN, C, C++, Java & Perl (Required)
- Experience with PL/SQL (Preferred)
