Global Trade (Import/Export) Specialist (America) - West Coast Remote

Job Summary

Lead and manage import/export compliance as the subject matter expert for medical device trade across America. Prepare and maintain internal controls, audit materials, and trade compliance databases including customs clearance records and Harmonized Tariff Codes. Serve as first-line intake for trade enablement requests, validating dossiers for leadership review while researching regional regulations and monitoring customs changes. Support C-TPAT audits, investigations, and risk assessments, developing continuous improvement initiatives and GTM projects. Collaborate cross-functionally with Regulatory Affairs, Supply Chain, and Legal to ensure adherence to international trade regulations and export controls.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in International Business, Supply Chain Management or related field
  • 5–8+ years of experience in trade compliance and import/export operations, preferably in medical devices
  • Fluency in English
  • Expertise in HTSUS, 19CFR, Canada Customs Act, Export Administration Regulations, customs clearance requirements for medical devices (e.g., classification, FDA AofC, origin), FTA use, C-TPAT and Incoterms® 2020
  • Expertise in implementing global trade compliance and controls, recordkeeping, import/export operational controls, supply chain security programs, continuous improvement methodologies, and the ability to manage compliance initiatives, audits, risk assessments, and cross-functional trade enablement activities
  • Experience using collaboration, documentation, and analytics platforms (e.g., Confluence, Tableau) to support trade data analysis, reporting, and data-driven decisions
  • Experience working with: ERP, GTM, national customs systems (e.g., ACE, CARM)
  • Advanced knowledge of tariff classification (HS codes), Country of Origin and export controls
  • Skilled in trade compliance, risk mitigation, audit preparedness, and root-cause investigations
  • Strategic mindset: able to develop and enforce trade policies and support trade facilitation into new markets
  • Problem-solving, resourcefulness and organizational skills
  • Skilled in cross-functional collaboration and ability to communicate clearly and effectively in writing and verbally (especially with RA/QA, Supply Chain, and Legal)
  • Strong attention to regulatory detail and risk management mindset; agility to navigate shifting regulatory frameworks (e.g., Tariffs, FTAs)
  • Ability to work independently and with a sense of urgency, effective time management and prioritization, exercise good judgement in operation and escalation
  • Must be flexible in their thinking, prepared to perform under pressure and with shifting priorities
  • Travel: as needed

Desired Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Spanish is a plus
  • CHB license not required, but is a plus
