Job Summary

Global Senior Benefits Specialist to scale and optimize our global benefits programs. Lead U.S. benefits administration (medical, dental, vision, HSA/FSA, life and AD&D, disability, leave programs, voluntary benefits) and assist with the U.S. 401(k) program. Partner with internal stakeholders and leave vendors (FMLA, STD, LTD, parental leave, state-specific) to ensure accurate enrollments, life events, audits, and payroll-related activities. Support global benefits across EMEA and APJ with regional brokers and vendors, including renewals, implementations, communications, and data management. Maintain global benefits documentation, enrollment workflows, and reporting; ensure compliance with ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, nondiscrimination testing, and other U.S. regulatory requirements; manage vendor relationships (implementations, renewals, invoicing, issue resolution, performance monitoring). Identify opportunities to improve operations, analyze claims data and utilization trends, and support Open Enrollment, testing, education, and communications. Proficient use of benefits systems (Workday preferred); comfortable leveraging AI and automation to enhance workflows. Requires 5+ years in benefits administration and a bachelor's degree; candidate should have strong analytical skills and experience across North America, EMEA, and APJ as applicable; role is based at Appian HQ in McLean, VA with in-office requirement 5 days a week.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in benefits administration
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. health and welfare benefits and retirement plans; international benefits exposure across North America, EMEA and/or APJ preferred
  • Experience partnering with external vendors, brokers, and cross-functional internal stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience working in spreadsheets, reporting, and data audits
  • Experience with benefits administration systems; Workday experience strongly preferred
  • Comfort leveraging AI and automation tools to improve workflows and productivity
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced, evolving environment
