Global Principal Procurement Engineer

Job Summary
Lead cost optimization initiatives across Direct Sourcing in a Global Procurement environment for Leica Microsystems (a Danaher company). Drive value through target costing, should-cost modeling, and value engineering; ensure supplier quality, delivery, and innovation. Develop and apply target costing in collaboration with R&D and Product Management; conduct cost breakdown analyses and benchmark global suppliers; negotiate complex prices and contracts; support early supplier involvement in New Product Introduction (NPI) projects to ensure cost-effective design decisions in alignment with Project Procurement Managers. Essential requirements include a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Supply Chain Management, 8+ years of relevant experience, familiarity with TCO/ DtC/ Clean Sheet Costing/ABC tools, proven negotiation skills, English fluency, and 30-40% travel; additional preferred experience in SAP/e-procurement, Power BI, and cross-functional stakeholder management in a multinational setting.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Supply Chain Management
- 8+ years of experience in procurement engineering, cost engineering, or strategic sourcing
- Familiarity with Advanced Cost Management Tools (Total Cost of Ownership, Design-to-Cost, Clean Sheet Costing, Activity-Based Costing)
- Proven track record in complex price and contract negotiations
- Fluent in English (negotiation level)
- Willingness to travel nationally and internationally (approximately 30 to 40%)
