Global Payroll Supervisor & HR Compliance (Maternity Cover)

Job Summary
Global payroll oversight across multiple countries with a focus on accuracy, compliance, and timely compensation; lead and coordinate a payroll team and external consultants, ensuring alignment with local and international labor laws and tax regulations. Drive HRIS change initiatives, payroll platform migrations, and system upgrades; collaborate with legal advisers to ensure contracts meet regulatory standards; manage onboarding processes and data integrity; support strategic HR projects with CHRO and optimize HR processes to improve productivity and employee experience. This is a fixed-term maternity-cover contract, 40 hours per week, with a hybrid work pattern, based at the Milan office.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Law, Economics, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in HR operations, global payroll, or similar functions
- Hands-on experience managing HR system change projects, HRIS implementations, payroll platform migrations, system upgrades, or technology transitions
- Solid knowledge of payroll cycles and processing timelines; knowledge of foreign labour law (especially French) is a plus
- Familiarity with local payroll tax regulations for foreign workers, including withholding taxes, social security contributions and pension plans
- Ability to engage legal advisers and request clarification on the correct application of labour regulations
- Strong understanding of HRIS and payroll platforms, with confidence in evaluating system capabilities and partnering with vendors/IT
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to coach and develop a multi-country team
- Fluent English; additional languages a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and standard HR/payroll reporting tools
- Proactive, hands-on approach and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment of organizational and technological change
