Job Summary
Manage import documentation and related matters by communicating with overseas offices, vendors, and shippers to ensure successful receipt of goods at distribution centers. Negotiate freight costs to secure pricing and drive savings while verifying correct duty rates through Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) code classification. Organize, validate, and upload shipping documents into NetSuite, including packing lists and bills of lading, and generate reports to track incoming freight data. Coordinate with customs brokers and freight forwarders for Importer Security Filing (ISF), customs clearance, and freight release. Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and suggest improvements to enhance efficiency while staying informed on government regulations, tariffs, and international import compliance requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience
- Ability to work effectively as a team member across multiple project teams while also working independently
- Ability to work across all U.S. time zones as well as overseas time zones as needed
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with U.S. Customs compliance regulations and Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) code classification
- Experience using Microsoft Excel
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Ability to analyze situations and make sound, independent decisions
- Excellent time management and multitasking skills
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
