Global Commodities Manager - Mechanical Components - Remote

Job Summary
Develop and implement category strategies for mechanical components to achieve cost savings and quality improvements. Conduct market analysis to identify trends and opportunities within the sector. Manage supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, and lead selection, RFQs, and sourcing decisions for new product introduction and production programs. Collaborate with engineering and production teams to align sourcing strategies, monitor supplier performance, and prepare reports on category initiatives for senior management. Lead cross-functional projects to improve procurement processes and reduce lead times. This role requires approximately 20% travel for domestic and international supplier visits.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or category management with a manufacturing environment
- Experience sourcing mechanical components such as sheet metal fabrications, metal enclosures, machined parts, stamped components, plastics, or structured assemblies
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills
- Experience working with ERP/MRP systems and procurement tools
- Proficient in data analysis and market research methodologies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience collaborating with suppliers and teams across North America, EMEA, and APAC
- Familiarity with fabrication processes including CNC machining, metal stamping, welding powder coating, die casting, and injection molding
- Approximately 20% travel, including domestic and international supplier visits
