Job Summary
Conduct Technical Sustainment Support, Sustainment Engineering, and Modernization for Global Broadcast Service systems including AN/USR-10A, AN/TSR-11, and associated crypto/modems. Perform on-site troubleshooting, equipment testing, component replacement, and No Evidence of Failure validation for GBS variants. Execute Pre-Installation Check Out, software installation, System Operational Verification Testing, and training for system turnover. Deliver status briefings to senior Navy personnel and develop technical documentation, schematics, and procedures. Requires five years of hands-on Radio Frequency Communication Systems experience, a Secret US DoD security clearance, and 25% travel. Located in Norfolk, VA.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in a technical or scientific field
- Training in relevant Technical/Engineering Field, or formal electronics training from: Technical School, and/or Class A or C military school in electronics, communications and/or information technology and/or College degree
- Minimum of five (5) years hands-on specialized Radio Frequency Communication Systems experience
- demonstrate In-Service sustainment engineering functions (e.g. evaluation, testing, and maintenance) of electronic equipment and systems experience in Navy GBS or another Shipboard Communication Systems Program
- Must be able to distinguish between different colors
- possess manual dexterity to complete fine motor tasks
- stand for extended periods of time
- lift and carry items weighing up to 50lbs
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- Must be able to interface effectively with all levels of technical and management personnel
- Travel Required: 25%
- Work Location: Norfolk, VA
- required to have and maintain a Secret US DoD security clearance
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum of three (3) years of hands-on experience with GBS systems
- extensive experience with each of the following: physical and functional level of network configuration
- diagnostic and troubleshooting functions
- current variants and their installations
- specialized test equipment required for troubleshooting GBS
- technical documentation and troubleshooting aids
- end-to-end architecture for each GBS variant
- mentoring and/or training junior engineers/technicians
