Job Summary
Lead the Global Electrical Markets Division Application Engineering organization by defining and executing the global strategy aligned with business and technology roadmaps. Partner with R&D, product management, marketing, sales, and operations to identify customer needs and convert them into scalable technical solutions while monitoring industry trends and emerging laboratory application needs. Oversee application development, product validation support, demo protocols, and technical performance optimization to ensure application readiness for new product introductions. Establish global processes, tools, and best practices across regions and teams while building a high-performing global team through hiring, coaching, and succession planning. This on-site role at the 3M Center in Austin, TX requires four days of in-office work weekly, up to 20% travel, and relocation assistance, with a compensation range of $250,253 - $305,864.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher completed and verified prior to start from an accredited institution
- Ten (10) years of experience in application engineering, laboratory technology, technical service, product development, or related leadership roles
- Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status)
- All US-based 3M full time employees will need to sign an employee agreement as a condition of employment with 3M
- This agreement lays out key terms on using 3M Confidential Information and Trade Secrets
- It also has provisions discussing conflicts of interest and how inventions are assigned
- Employees that are Job Grade 7 or equivalent and above may also have obligations to not compete against 3M or solicit its employees or customers, both during their employment, and for a period after they leave 3M

Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree and /or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Engineering, or Material Science, from an accredited institution
- Skills include ability to lead a global Application Engineering organization, influencing cross functional partners, communication with and across all levels, and proactive and self-driven leadership
- Experience leading global or multi-regional technical teams
- Demonstrated success leading cross-functional programs and influencing senior stakeholders
- Able to identify and gather customer insights and technology/product opportunities
- Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership capabilities
