Job Summary
The Glenville YMCA is hiring summer camp staff to support positive and nurturing relationships with children, while building cooperative ties with parents. Positions available include Camp Counselor, Camp Unit Leader, and Camp Specialty Instructor, involving managing groups of campers and facilitating specialty activities. Roles require certifications in CPR, First Aid, AED, and training in Child Abuse Prevention within 30 days of hire. Camp Counselors must be at least 16 years old and have some experience with children in day camp settings. Camp Unit Leaders and Specialty Instructors must be 18 and possess relevant experience in recreational or educational environments.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 16 years of age (Camp Counselor), 18 years of age (Camp Unit Leader & Specialty Instructor)
- CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse Prevention training within 30 days of hire date
- Previous experience working with children preferably in a day camp setting (Camp Counselor)
- Previous experience working with children in camping, recreation, teaching, childcare or physical education (Camp Unit Leader & Specialty Instructor)
- NYS Working Papers (for those under 18)
- Resume with all childcare experience
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of crafts, archery, camping, songs/music, skits, sports, aquatics, recreational games
Additional Requirements
- NYS Working Papers required for Camp Counselors under 18 years old
