GL Accountant (UK Timing)

Job Summary
Prepare and post standard and adjusting journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, and reclasses. Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities while maintaining accurate balances across GL accounts and performing balance sheet reconciliations. Lead intercompany invoice posting, variance analysis, and reconciliation of all intercompany balances, and perform GR/IR clearing three times per month. Manage fixed assets, including capitalization, depreciation, and disposals, and support VAT and corporation tax return preparation. Ensure compliance with accounting policies and internal controls, and assist with external audits and statutory reporting. Prepare and review postings in SAP (S/4HANA), support process improvement initiatives within Record-to-Report, and leverage AI for efficiency gains.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
- At least 5 years of general ledger or core accounting experience
- Experience with SAP or equivalent ERP systems
- Understanding of IFRS
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (reconciliations, pivots, analysis)
- Strong attention to detail and ownership mindset
- Ability to work independently and meet close deadlines
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Analytical and problem-solving capability
- Ability to collaborate effectively across Finance and Operations
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in a multinational or manufacturing environment preferred
- Prior experience from audit advisory firm will be a plus
