GISD Computer Lab Aide

Job Summary
Assist students and teachers in the use of computers, educational software, and instructional technology; maintain an organized, safe, and productive computer lab environment; troubleshoot basic hardware and software issues; supervise students during computer lab activities; support technology-based lessons and classroom activities as directed; reinforce digital citizenship and appropriate technology use; maintain inventory and assist with lab operations; follow district safety protocols and participate in required trainings to support technology initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Associate degree or college hours preferred
- Completion of the ParaSkills Course through STEDI.org required (District paid)
- Knowledge of basic computer operations, educational technology, and software applications
- Ability to assist students and staff with technology-related tasks
- Ability to troubleshoot basic hardware and software issues
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, teachers, and staff
- Experience working with children preferred
- Experience in a school setting preferred
- Experience using instructional technology and educational software preferred
- Assist students and teachers in the use of computers, educational software, and instructional technology resources
- Support technology-based lessons and classroom activities as directed by teachers and campus administration
- Reinforce digital citizenship and appropriate technology use expectations
- Assist students with logging into programs, accessing assignments, and navigating technology resources
- Maintain an organized, safe, and productive computer lab environment
- Monitor student activity and ensure appropriate use of technology resources
- Assist with scheduling and preparation of computer lab activities
- Maintain inventory of technology equipment and instructional materials assigned to the lab
- Troubleshoot basic hardware, software, and connectivity issues
- Report technology concerns and equipment issues to the Technology Department as needed
- Assist with setup and operation of computers, printers, and other instructional technology equipment
- Supervise students during computer lab activities and instructional sessions
- Encourage student engagement and responsible technology use
- Support student learning and academic success through technology integration
- Participate in required district and campus training
- Follow district safety protocols and procedures
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student and district information
- Support campus and district technology initiatives
- Perform other duties as assigned by campus administration
- Supervise students assigned to the computer lab and technology learning environments
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, and reaching
- Frequent use of computers and instructional technology
- Occasional lifting and moving of technology equipment and supplies
- Work in computer lab, classroom, and campus environments
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and student needs simultaneously
- Maintain emotional control and professionalism in a technology-rich learning environment
- Help students develop technology and digital literacy skills
- Support innovative teaching and learning through technology integration
- Work in a collaborative and student-focused environment
