GISD 1 to 1 Paraprofessional

Job Summary
Support students with disabilities by assisting teachers in implementing IEP goals, accommodations, and modifications; provide instructional and behavioral support; reinforce academic skills in individual or small-group settings; assist with data collection and classroom routines; implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) as directed and monitor safety during activities; assist with mobility, hygiene, feeding, or other personal care needs as necessary; prepare instructional materials and support substitute teachers and related service providers; collaborate with teachers, therapists, administrators, and families; participate in required training and maintain confidentiality in a structured special education environment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to obtain Texas Educational Aide Certificate (certification may be obtained through the District)
- Completion of the ParaSkills Course through STEDI.org (course will be purchased by the District)
- Ability to work effectively with students with diverse learning, behavioral, and physical needs
- Knowledge of behavior support strategies preferred
- Ability to follow instructional plans and teacher direction
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Experience working with students with disabilities preferred
- Experience in an educational setting preferred
