Job Summary
GIS Technician A-1 responsibilities include posting changes to electric transmission, substation, distribution, and land-base asset records in GIS through work orders and map markups; ensuring quality and timely posting; utilizing GIS, AutoCAD, Maximo, iTOA, OMNI, and Excel; conducting field look-ups to verify asset records; tracking construction status on work orders; performing QA/QC on outputs; providing recommendations to management on prioritizing work and training needs; leading and coordinating with GIS Technicians; coaching and training staff; and supporting customers in design, construction, and posting stages. The role requires a Bachelor’s Degree in GIS or equivalent, at least two years of CAD drafting (GIS/AutoCAD) experience, a Massachusetts driver’s license, and successful completion of the TECH Test.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in GIS or equivalent certification from a technical school or college in a field applicable to the engineering and/or technical activities of the GIS Records Department
- Minimum of Two (2) years' experience in computer aided design drafting (GIS, AutoCAD) or equivalent
- Massachusetts Driver’s License
- Approved to operate company vehicles
- Applicants must successfully pass the TECH Test
