GIS Public Health Project Coordinator

Job Summary

Lead all project management domains for public health and geospatial technology projects from planning to close-out, coordinating cross-functional teams of researchers, programmers, and designers. Develop partner-specific project plans for interactive mapping websites and data visualizations while managing relationships within internal teams and external partners. Collaborate with stakeholders to define product requirements, milestones, and execution strategy, then provide testing, debugging, and resolution for application issues. Analyze business needs, document requirements, and translate them into system specifications while creating and maintaining schedules, progress reports, and project documentation. Lead weekly and bi-weekly meetings to present milestones to stakeholders. Requires a Public Trust clearance, two years of public health project experience, and seven years leading IT development projects.

Required Qualifications

  • Must have or be able to obtain a Public Trust with the US federal government
  • At least two (2) years of experience supporting public health projects
  • At least seven (7) years' leading IT development or analytical projects or with collaborating with technical teams
  • Knowledge of Agile processes, Azure DevOps, JIRA or other project management platforms commonly used in software development
  • Must have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Must be well-organized, proactive, and works well in a team-setting
  • Skilled in communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences and collaborators
  • Skilled in translating public health information, data, and concepts to functional technical requirements
  • U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents (green card holders)
  • Bachelor's Degree in information technology, public health, GIS, or related field

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's of Public Health preferred
  • Recent experience with CDC environment and standards: SDLC, technical architecture, release processes
  • Experience with DevOps or DevSecOps
