Job Summary
The Journey-level GIS Database Administrator will develop, document, implement, and maintain geospatial and alphanumeric data models and databases in on-premises and cloud environments, supporting database operations and geospatial services for GIS customers. Ideal candidates possess a Bachelor's degree in relevant fields, 2 years of experience, and knowledge of SQL, Enterprise Geodatabases, Microsoft SQL Server or PostgreSQL. This full-time position offers an opportunity for professional growth in database administration.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Geographic Information Systems, or related field
- Minimum 2 years of experience with database administration or GIS technologies
- Basic knowledge of Enterprise Geodatabases and spatial database concepts
- Understanding of SQL and database management principles
- Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server or PostgreSQL database systems
- Basic knowledge of geospatial web services and GIS platforms
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in team environments
- Active NAC or NACI security clearance eligibility
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with ESRI ArcGIS products and spatial databases
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure, AWS) for database management
- Understanding of database security principles and compliance requirements
- Familiarity with version control and change management processes
- Experience with scripting languages (Python, PowerShell) for database automation
- Knowledge of web service technologies and API development
- Understanding of backup and disaster recovery procedures
- Interest in advancing to senior-level database administration roles
