Job Summary

Create, edit, integrate, verify, and manage geospatial data and attributes using GIS software, including database conversions, design, and advanced analysis. Compile and extract geographic data from various sources to maintain accurate hard copy and digital maps. Assist Project Managers in meeting deliverable requirements while supporting Council and Committee schedules, meeting materials, and Open Meetings Act compliance. Provide professional customer service, respond to public inquiries, and facilitate meetings representing the Region 1 Planning Council. Maintain physical and digital records per the Illinois Local Records Act and contribute to agency communications. Requires a Bachelor's degree in GIS with five years of experience; annual OMA and FOIA training is mandatory.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited institution with a Bachelor's degree in GIS or related field
  • 5 years relative experience
  • Annual completion of Open Meetings Act and Freedom of Information Act training
  • Possession of a valid Illinois driver's license
  • Insured, personal vehicle for business use
  • Ability to appropriately prioritize responsibilities, complete work in a timely manner, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to adapt as the organization develops and evolves
  • Maintains reasonable and predictable attendance
