Job Summary
Develop and maintain SYMCA's Geographic Information Systems and mapping platforms, leading delivery of GIS projects focused on housing, infrastructure, energy, and environment priorities. Produce geospatial insight by developing client and server-side GIS applications using Esri products like ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Enterprise, while translating complex geographic information into accessible analysis and visualisations. Ensure systems, processes, and mapping products remain compliant, secure, and fit for purpose by managing relationships with external providers and driving the adoption of innovative solutions. Advise colleagues on spatial data usage and support evidence-based decision-making across the organisation.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge and understanding of developing and supporting client and server-side GIS Applications
- Familiar with, and practical experience of, the use of the Esri products including ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online
- Ability to work on own initiative to manage own workload, prioritise work to deadline with strong organisation skills and deliver to a high standard with minimal supervision
- Strong ability to build effective and collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
- Skilled in producing quality documentation with excellent written communication skills, including management reports with the ability to adapt style to suit a variety of audiences/stakeholders
- Experience of, and practical skills in, the use of GIS applications, databases and mapping platforms
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to understand business requirements and develop practical solutions
- Ability to communicate technical information to a range of audiences
- Ability to build positive working relationships with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Organised, proactive and able to manage your workload effectively
- Ability to balance competing priorities while maintaining high standards of accuracy and quality
- Commitment to continuous improvement
- Ability to identify new ways to use data and technology to support organisational objectives
- Minimum of 3 days per week in the office
