Job Summary

Conduct daily practice schedules, organize pre-season meetings with athletes and parents, and establish strength and conditioning programs. Teach appropriate skills, survey field conditions for hazards, and monitor weather to ensure athlete safety. Provide emergency care and first aid when injuries occur, notify guardians, and maintain communication with the team physician and athletic director. Manage equipment inventory, secure facilities after use, and issue eligibility lists seven days prior to games. Counsel students academically, facilitate tutoring, and monitor grades and absences to meet VHSL and NCAA requirements. Represent the school professionally while promoting positive relationships with parents, booster clubs, and civic organizations.

Required Qualifications

  • Hold a current certificate in CPR/First Aid
  • Hold a VHSL Coaches education certificate
  • Represent the school by being dressed appropriately and displaying professional behavior at all times
  • Maintain pre-season conditioning to designated times allowed for each sport
  • Teach appropriate skills/techniques within the particular sport
  • Establish and monitor strength and conditioning program
  • Survey field conditions for potential hazards
  • Monitor weather conditions
  • Maintain a wholesome educational environment
  • Counsel students to improve academically in order for them to meet VHSL and NCAA eligibility requirements
  • Conduct supervised study sessions for athletes
  • Facilitate tutoring for athletes experiencing academic difficulty
  • Monitor grades of all athletes' academic progress
  • Monitor absences of athletes
  • Hold a current certificate in CPR/First Aid and VHSL Coaches education certificate
