Job Summary
Girls Tennis Head Coach responsible for leading and supervising all aspects of the high school tennis program, including athlete eligibility, practice planning, contest-day management, staff coordination, transportation, safety, adherence to WIAA regulations, and fostering an inclusive program culture. Duties include teaching fundamentals of tennis, enforcing rules, supervising practices and contests, maintaining eligibility documentation, budgeting collaboration with the Athletic Director, coordinating conferences/clinics, and providing evaluations for assistant coaches. Requires knowledge of tennis fundamentals, safety, equity and inclusiveness, district procedures, and strong communication. Must maintain CPR/First Aid, have reliable transportation, and possess a WA driver license with willingness to obtain district training for transporting students when required. Location is Cheney High School (CHS) within Cheney, WA; seasonal, stipend-based compensation with benefits after 630 hours. The role is year-specific to the 2026-27 season and is subject to Cheney Coaches Association guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- Appropriate certification as determined by WIAA, the state and the district
- Previous successful high school tennis coaching experience required
- Current first aid/CPR card
- WSP/FBI criminal history background clearance
- Must have access to a reliable form of transportation
- Possess valid WA driver license, satisfactory driving record, and willingness to obtain district-provided Type II driver training for transporting students when required
