Job Summary

Head Coach for girls golf at Harper Woods High School with duties spanning program development, supervision of staff and volunteers, ensuring student eligibility, coordinating athletic activities, and fostering college-recruitment connections. Responsibilities include designing instructional plans to develop athletic, academic, social, and leadership skills; supervising contests and practices; coordinating with the Athletic Director on scheduling, budgeting, and fundraising; maintaining data on player development and program effectiveness; and building relationships with NCAA, college coaches, and admissions offices to support athletes’ college opportunities.

Required Qualifications

  • A bachelor's Degree in a related field (education, sports management, etc.) is preferred.
  • A valid teaching certificate is preferred.
  • Several years of successful high school varsity coaching experience at both the assistant and head coaching levels are required.
  • Several years of successful coaching experience at the collegiate level are preferred.
  • Current CPR/First Aid Certification
  • CAP 1 or 2 Certification
  • Experience working with students in a diverse, multicultural academic setting.
  • Knowledge of the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) and the NCAA Eligibility rules/regulations.
  • Knowledge of intercollegiate athletic programs.
  • Knowledge of and skill in the use of computers and software applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to instruct and supervise student athletes.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow district policies and procedures.
  • Excellent organizational, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
  • Demonstrated ability to connect all players to a college playing opportunity; ability to provide the percentage of previous players who secured a spot on a DI, DII, DIII, NAIA, or NJCAA team.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, staff, parents, the community, and collegiate personnel.
  • Demonstrated ability to raise student achievement.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize, and follow multiple projects and tasks to completion.
  • Ability to effectively identify and resolve problems while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Strong personal work ethic and high level of personal integrity.
