Job Summary
Gifted Education Teacher for Kindergarten through 12th grade. Provides services for gifted and talented students through collaboration with administrators and teachers to support advanced student achievement via pullout and push-in strategies, instructional planning, and staff development. Plans and implements the Gifted Education Program per school/division policies, uses varied instructional methods and materials, monitors student behavior for a safe learning environment, communicates progress to parents, and participates in professional development and special events (e.g., Summer Enrichment opportunities, Governor’s School). Requires maintaining an appropriate Virginia teaching license and adherence to state/federal laws.
Required Qualifications
- A four-year degree from an accredited college or university on the state of Virginia's approved list
- Hold a Virginia license in the appropriate teaching area or eligibility for a Virginia license with application for the Virginia license within 90 days of employment
- If acquiring a provisional license, show continuous yearly progress toward achieving a clear Virginia license within three years
