Job Summary
Assists with patient care activities under the supervision/delegation of the registered nurse and/or physician, including intraprocedural support, specimen handling and transport, and assists in organizing and preparing procedure rooms and equipment. Performs high-level disinfection and reprocessing of equipment/scopes, calibrates and operates equipment, documents procedures and patient charges, maintains unit inventory, and performs clerical duties (data entry, scheduling, filing). Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development relevant to patient age, and adheres to safety initiatives and infection-control policies. Requires High School graduate and 1 year of patient-care experience, plus certification requirements within 6 months.
Required Qualifications
- Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required: GI Technical Specialist (GTS) certification issued by SGNA; must be obtained within 6 months.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association; must be obtained within 6 months unless department leader determines it is not required.
- Education Required: High School Graduate.
- Experience Required: Typically requires 1 year of experience in a nursing assistant, medical assistant or similar patient care position.
